Twins and Guns

Art Show on November 19th

Some of Connie's work

It was a wonderful first time experience. I sold 3 pieces! I am considering putting a few up on Etsy whenever I can find the time. A few people told me to try showing my work at the lake (30 mins. away). I would really like to get a show in Richmond but I'm holding off on that until I can produce some bigger pieces. I guess you could say I'm slowly expanding contacts and  "references." There's a lady who does children book illustrations that I need to get in contact. And another lady on the council. "Tell her Mark sent you." One lady I'd never met before bought one of my mini portraits because it reminded her of her granddaughter. :)

I was interviewed and got my picture taken for the newspaper on Monday. The guy claimed he was going to put me on the front page in about a week, we'll see.

Art show, twins

I am having my first art show (with Connie) on November 19th!

I live in a small town. I'm not expecting a huge crowd on my behalf considering I am a hermit and I don't even live here half of the time. it's still very exciting. I want to make flyers to put on Main St. soon. my nerves are a wreck. there is so much that needs to be done. ahh.

don't know where I'm going with this one yet ^^

I just haven't had the time. *shrug*

Thanks to my friend, Scott, I'll have a website to share with you guys soon. He's hosting me and I actually already have the site, but I am doing everything myself and I'm not finished. I'm trying to fit my learning-to-internet time in with my learning-how-to-fix-cars time, and full-time job time, and having-a-sinus-infection time.

I need to find the time to put some finishing touches on half of my pieces and then re-photograph them using an actual camera so I can put them on the site.

This has been my latest purchase and I haven't even had the time to try it out myself but the reviews have been promising

progress: aero queen & dollie

nearly complete with the aero queen

beginning to plan Dollie's frame.

I have been asked, "why do you draw on tracing paper first?" this is actually a method I would suggest to those who do not draw/colour using an easel and especially heavy-handed pencil artists.

there's a couple of reasons : 1) pencil erases so much easier due to tracing paper texture, 2) less imprints on the actual art piece which means smoother transfer of colour ((I don't worry too much about paper imprints when I dabble in acrylics because you can layer paints more easily)), and 3) symmetry! I tend to draw at a 45-degree angle in a sitting-fetal position, elbows on the floor. you can imagine how that ends sometimes. don't judge me, okay.

Constance, my friend's mother and my art buddy, told me I needed to have an art show sometime, and she offered to have a duo show with me. I am so flattered. she came by work and told me that she had spoken to the owner of this place (and location of her previous show in town). he has agreed to loan us the 3rd floor for a show! this floor is used for ballet classes so I'm assuming there's going to be huge wall-mirrors in there. I hope so!! unfortunately we have not planned a day yet because my work schedule is out of whack right now, and working every other weekend kinda limits options.

I may be putting my first piece of art up for sale. my friend, sharon, has talked me into considering it. there's a cute diner near the lake. it has a wall lined with art for sale by different local artists and a spot is $15. I hope I don't end up embarrassing myself, at least no one knows me at the lake.

any way, I really love constance's work although it really puts mine to shame (boo hoo):

Aero queen progress

I've changed up the frame style quite a bit. There will be some feather details added and I can't figure out what colour I want her hair yet.

The other night I lost track of time and doodled until the sun came up. She was the last thing I drew before I dozed off.
